BABYMOON

Swimming in Lake Erie

University of Toledo
Some castle in Toronto
Sara in Niagara Falls
Jeff under the falls

Jeff & I celebrated our “Babymoon” by taking a Lake Erie tour.

  • We started our tour by driving to Toledo. Jeff got to see my Alma Matter, the University of Toledo. The good old Rockets! We took a quick campus tour, stopped my by sorority house and stopped by the bookstore for a few Toledo t-shirts. Then it was off to lunch at Jed’s! This is probably what I miss most about Toledo...Chicken Balls! Jed’s is a bar/restaurant which has the best boneless, skinless chicken “balls” served about 50 different ways with about 15 different sauces! I was in heaven! We took a quick drive through downtown t-town and then it was up I-75 to see Detroit.

  • We had to make a pit stop in Monroe, Michigan at the Jerky Outlet. Now Jeff was in heaven. He sampled a few, bought a bag and we were off again! A quick drive past downtown Detroit and we were crossing the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

  • We got a kick out of the freeway sogns in French & English. After a llllloooooonnnggg drive across Ontario (which looks just like Ohio), we made it to Toronto. We could not believe how huge Toronto was. We found our hotel with not much to-do. It was an interesting hotel to say the least. Nestled between Chinatown and Little Italy, it was more like a hostel than a $100+ a night hotel. It served its purpose just fine though. We did not care for Toronto at all. The city was fine the people sucked. They were pretentious and too trendy. The Little Italy in Cleveland was better, but Chinatown was very cool. I think we may have seen Peking Cat in a few shop windows. Downtown is beautiful and clean, and has ever imaginable store/boutique/restaurant. We did have the BEST Thai food there at ‘Salad King & Linda’. The panang curry was to die for! We spent a few nights there, eating, shopping and sight seeing. Then it was off to Niagara Falls!

  • Niagara Falls is breathtaking...minus all of the tourist crap. That place is full of tourist traps, Asian people and sweaty kids. The falls themselves were spectacular. We took the “Under the Falls” adventure. We were soaking wet, but it was well worth the 1 hour 45 minute wait. After an eventful night which included a trip to the Niagara Falls New York Emergency Room, we slept (not so soundly) and were off for the good old USA the next morning. We needed to make a quick pit stop at the duty free store for some Gibson’s Canadian Whisky for Jeff’s dad. After stuffing our rental with six big bottles we were off over the bridge!

  • We took our time getting back by driving through western New York wine country. The scenery is beautiful! We stopped at the Merritt Vineyards for a case of Bella Rosa wine for my parents. Jeff got to do a quick wine sampling while we were there. Then it was into Pennsylvania and into good old Ohio.

  • We made it back to Ohio that evening just in time for another visit to the emergency room. This time the wait was about 4 hours! Holy Shit! After no one could tell what was going on, it ended up being an abscess that was really infected. BOO! But I got some Vicodin (YEA!) so sleeping was more manageable.

While we were in town my mom & sister threw Warren and I a baby shower. It was wonderful! My family and Ohio friends were there and Warren got hooked up! Jeff and the guys took the day off to go fishing (they only caught one!) but time away from the hens was good enough for them!
